I strained my ears to hear something but was surprised when nothing was there to hear. No little rustle of bushes, no wind blowing through tress and no distant cars could be observed. The air, stagnant and heavy only had movement when I inhaled and exhaled, so I stopped. It felt wrong to disturb this quiet scene in which I did not belong, I had never seen the world so dark and so black before in my life. As I examined my surroundings I noticed that the ground and bushes were glowing with a silver light and I looked at my hand and my jacket and noticed I had also been draped in this beautiful silver and tilted my chin towards the sky. I had seen them before but not with this intensity. A million tiny suns twinkled back at me as I admired their ancient beauty, my mind racing but empty at the same time. I couldn’t hold my breath forever and let my lungs breathe out the warm carbon dioxide and fog the air in front of my face. The cool air numbed my fingers and the tip of my nose but I barely noticed as I gazed at the sky, endlessly. I knew it would be a while before I could be alone with them like this again, just the stars and I.
